Did you have to take a TNF inhibitor like Renflexis or any biologic? I’m recommended to take one, I’d like to see if I can get off them at a later date, or if once you start you never stop
Interesting view of carnivore being an elimination diet that facilitates high compliance. Makes too much sense.
I've been dealing with bowel issues since 2021 (spastic colon). I'll pick up some raw milk this week and see if carnivore isn't the way to solve my problem. I noticed that my problems started when my wife and I decided to reduce the amount of meat we consumed (and that wasn't the only problem that I noticed).
I wish a carnivore diet would work for me, as animal based products are the only ones that don’t cause severe bloating. Unfortunately the diet also puts a complete kibosh on BMs. Congratulations on the healing! It’s wonderful to read the work and thoughts of such an anomaly: a logical, scientific-minded healthcare professional!
Beware industrially raised proteins. Try Butcher Box or White Oak Pastures for “clean” proteins. I believe like Will Harris “ you are what you eat eats”. Grain-fed beef from feedlots doesn’t work with my digestion.
Thanks for the tip! I use our infrared sauna with red light (added in the ceiling) several times a week, but haven’t noticed a difference with that frequency. Maybe it would have to be daily?
I have a Beurer red/infrared light. I love it. I'm using it daily right now, but I may back off a bit. I use it close to my abdomen. I'm trying to improve my liver and digestive issues. Basically I do light therapy as needed.
Whoa. I want to hear more. Is the thought that IR light passes from the skin/surface into the deeper organs to benefit them? Doc? Does that make sense to you?
I'm a vegetarian fighting this disease, so meat won't be my answer. I've definitely reacted to fiber though! No longer my friend!
Are you aware of the late Dr Nicholas Gonzales and the work of William Kelley and others? He expanded the work on metabolic typing and as a health professional of 50 yrs I realised it answered a lot of unanswered questions. Nicholas had very good success with treating cancer, most notably with specialised diets ranging from all meat to none : to all cooked to all raw. It explains, for instance why some people thrive on all raw but many don’t. Many are a mixed balanced type as I am after travelling to New York October 2013 specifically to be metabolically typed.
What he said resonated with me too.
There are doctors being trained by a foundation specifically set up to do this by his wife.
Fantastic story of how proper diet and hidden pharmacology provides a cure. More validation for my teaching.
Are you familiar with How And When to Be Your Own Doctor?
https://soilandhealth.org/book/how-and-when-to-be-your-own-doctor/
Was reminded of it reading this story.
No, I havent…so many great books hard to keep up!
Do you ever recommend nicotine patches for IBD instead of smoking tobacco?
I generally try to stay away from the prescription pad.
There are other ways to natural source nicotinamide/derivatives without patches or tobacco.

I did not, and would never have taken them.
So, I'd call it a cure if NO foods spur you back into symptoms, or at least no reasonably clean, healthy foods. How restricted is your diet now?
I eat pretty much anything I want.
But, what I want has drastically changed since first receiving this diagnosis.
You mean less desire for junk? Or maybe carbs?
junk.
big fan of carbs.

Which cigarettes did you use that only have tobacco?
American spirit and cigarillos.
Did you just smoke the nicotine during a flare? My son also has IBD Crohns for 26 years… would love to offer him this testimonial.
Yes

Thanks, yes, we only eat clean meat. It’s mainly the lack of carbs that gives me industrial grade xi constipation, fatigue and air loss.
Light on the abdomen helps constipation and energy: red, infrared, orange, yellow, and green. Or just good old sunlight.

Is that a hand-held device?
As I mention in other article, it doesn’t work for everyone. My wife, for example, cannot tolerate strictly carnivore.
Temperaments.

No, I have not.
Sounds like I should look into it.
Would other forms of nicotine, such as gum, be as effective as smoking?
I haven't tried it, but I don't see why it shouldn't provide some effect.
