Article: Neurological Effects of Honey: Current & Future Prospects
Context
Once of my first medical encounters with honey was as a college student eagerly taking part in a research presentation day. It was a mixed event, involving both undergraduate & medical research.
One of the presenters was a medical trainee and her research was concerned with the use of Manuka Honey in treating foot ulcers of severely diabetic patients. She told me that this miraculous substance was not only anti-microbial in some of its effects, but also promoted healing along the viable edges of the ulcer.
This is the type of knowledge & practice I had hoped was taught in medical school. Suffice it to say, very little attention is given to honey (and other naturally abundant substances).
