As for me . I used yo have the worst heartburn and indigestion. I quit eating food cooked/fried in seed oils . Working on staying away from it in our food products itself . Been doing this for a few years . Since this my symptoms of heartburn are slim to none . And when it occurs I can link it back to seed oils in something I ate. Believe this or not raw ACV works well in repairing damages that's been done . Wow is all I can say . It's done wonders with me.

Maybe people will go outdoors more.

Why not sunlight? Why not simple water or water with a dash baking soda?

Is there a brand of melatonin you recommend? What are melatonin supplements actually made from?

I do use Light on my abdomen.

Also there is an Ayurvedic remedy I use called Avipattikar. It's quite helpful.

This is fascinating!

What to do with heartburn/reflux?.. Contact a functional med doc or a nutritional therapist, Slippery Elm is an excellent herb for heartburn, gastric reflux, then look at stress levels, sleep habits, food triggers, Helicobactor Pylori ?, SIBO,? and get it sorted. No need to take melatonin, look at root cause first. :;)))

Sure, that’s all great.

But, what do you do when you encounter a random incidence of heartburn?

I know it happens to me.

For example, if I eat out somewhere and…well…you know.

Or have a little alcohol with a meal.

Root cause is important, and we address this in the reflux articles.

Having a reliable natural remedy is also important.

Makes cures great again!

When you realize its what you ate or over ate , why does anyone need a remedy? This to shall pass. We have become babies, wimps..lost common sense.. Example, Coffee without food gives me a slight burn feel, remedy is not a pill, its dont drink coffee without food or dont drink coffee🤔🤔

Near infrared light is one of the most potent medicines around - especially in its incandescent form.

I like this idea. I've had a DIY NIR PBM setup for over 10 years, AND I occasionally suffer gastric distress. My go-to intervention has always been enzyme capsules, but I'll give the red light a try.

RE: what type of NIR light to use, I strongly recommend this comprehensive article:

I have always used incandescent bulbs, and have never needed to try another brand (no affiliation) - https://rubyluxlights.com/

Thank you for the mention Doc! Just interviewed Alexander Wunsch for our ElectroHealth Summit - he went into the details of LED vs incandescent. I have Ruby Lux and love them, but recently have been getting into SaunaSpace (am also an affiliate).

I may name my next band DIY NIR PBM...that'll keep 'em guessing 🤪

Sounds more like a techno band....or you could just refer to yourself as Light (like Prince)..but maybe people will get the wrong idea...Light is too much like Christ. I digress...(: thanks again for sharing this article. I reached out to remnant to be part of the experiment.

You’ll want people using the same light source for sure. A company might give some for this experiment.

What about 15 - 30 mins of sunshine if a red lamp is not available?

sunshine is great, especially if you can manage to get out there during sunrise or sunset.

How potent it would be for a targeted symptomatic relief in the epigastric region...may depend on your latitude.

Thank you for this! I've been listening to Dr. Jack Kruse...and Infrared lighting. Could you provide more detailed information for general use: how to use, how long, how close, should safety glasses be used, or there any concerns or risk, what kind light have you purchased, the quality of lighting? I'm located in Memphis, and we go days without sunlight. And once or twice a week...getting just 6 hours of sleep( lots of variables...)-- thinking it's possibly related to my melon...

It is important to distinguish between a specific case of heartburn, generally easily cured by many different actions or inaction a - often simply by waiting and not eating and a case of "repeating cases of heartburn" due to a repeating or chronic cause.

Curing the repeating case requires a transformation of the repeating or chronic cause.

A chronic cause is an attribute or process that cannot be addressed by a one-time consumption of melatonin.

If the chronic cause is chronic overeating then addressing that cause wil cure. If the chronic cause is something cured with red light therapy, then addressing that cause will cure.

The cure proves the cause.

Of 100 curable cases of heartburn, we might cure a percentage by consuming less food - but this will not cure cases with different causes. The cases cured with red light therapy might be a smaller or larger number. Of course, many other cures are possible depending on the cause. We might repeatedly address a wrong cause, or even many wrong causes, and might even assume the disease is incurable. Do not give up. When we give up, we create incurable. When we succeed, we find cures.

Unfortunately, modern medicine has no cure for heartburn, and has no ability to recognize a case of "heartburn cured." But, that's a statement about modern medicine, not about heartburn.

To your health, Tracy

Sorry, no reflux, etc or I'd lend a hand.

Would infrared heat be as effective as infrared light? There are relatively inexpensive heating belts that use carbon fiber elements to create infrared heat. Also more expensive infrared sauna blankets based upon the same concept.

This one claims: Pure carbon fiber heating element: It is capable of emitting far-infrared rays which are advantageous to the human body and conducive to enhancing blood circulation.

Perhaps this is too far up the spectrum as compared with the light systems?

i wouldn't be surprised if there is some benefit, and maybe just incandescent bulbs would work too.

The trouble is the amount of heat those things generate if they are skin-surface distance.

This is why I use the infrared LED panels. Low heat, low flicker, all useful wavelength.

I wear the heating belt over my shirt and even the high setting is only pleasantly warm. I wouldn't recommend direct skin contact though.

And we use a cotton liner with our IR sauna blanket. I need to be in it on high for 45 minutes before I will break a sweat.

Interesting! It occurs to me that two homeopathic medicines used for indigestion/heartburn (Arsenicum album and Nux vomica) can also be used for insomnia. Perhaps there is a melatonin connection.
